We recently conducted a poll and found that ‘product/service features’ and ‘level of service and support’ were the 2 most important factors that affected the decision. In fact, 60% of respondents cited the features as the most important! The rate of change and development in vehicle safety has been rapid in recent times. What was previously regarded as ‘exceptional’ is now mainstream for most of the industry.
There is now an expectation that fleet operators should have sufficient technology fitted to their vehicles to proactively protect road users, along with the ability to quickly access data, as required to retrospectively investigate incidents. In addition to this, camera data is being sought out by many businesses as a key part of their total fleet management solution – with a requirement to access live data 24/7 and package up footage to accompany other operational activities. ‘Level of Service and Support’ coming second in our poll doesn’t surprise us. Our experience in the industry has shown that lack of ongoing support from some suppliers is often where businesses feel most let down. In our poll, ‘Cost’ and ‘Supplier Experience’, weren’t highlighted by any respondents as a priority. So, although other factors were highlighted in our poll as more important when choosing a fleet safety supplier, experience and cost effectiveness come as standard with Contel!
